Douglas County Cancer Services is honored to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Three Rivers Foundation, the charitable giving arm of the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians and Three Rivers Casino Resort.
Established in 2011, the Three Rivers Foundation is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the people and lands within the historical homelands of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw peoples. Recognizing the deep connection between the land and its people, the Foundation also supports projects that create meaningful impacts throughout Oregon, including those that benefit Native American communities.
This generous grant will provide direct financial assistance to Douglas County cancer patients who are actively undergoing treatment. Funding will help meet essential living needs, including:
- Rent or mortgage assistance to help maintain stable housing
- Utility payments
- Grocery gift cards to ensure access to nutritious meals
- Gas cards to assist with transportation to and from cancer treatments
For many patients, the financial burden of cancer extends far beyond medical bills. By helping cover basic living expenses, this funding eases financial stress and allows patients to focus on what matters most—their treatment, healing, and recovery.
The Three Rivers Foundation continues to make an extraordinary difference across Oregon. This year, the Foundation awarded grants to 83 organizations that collectively serve more than 712,000 people, supported by over 290,000 volunteer hours. Grant funding reached organizations throughout Douglas, Coos, Curry, Lane and Lincoln counties, as well as projects with broader statewide impact.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Three Rivers Foundation for investing in the health and well-being of our community. Their generosity provides hope, stability, and compassion to local cancer patients when they need it most.
Together, we are making a difference – one patient, one family, and one community at a time!
